Roshani is a Specialist Consultant for Edessa Research. A field expert with a cultural anthropological approach, Roshani has managed successful evaluations of international relief and development programming in countries such as Nepal, Lebanon and Syria. Working closely with those she serves, she seeks to empower local communities by combining their values and goals with proven strategies of developmental change.

Over the past ten years of working in the non-profit sector, she has had the privilege of working alongside Syrian refugee communities, genocide survivors in Rwanda, earthquake survivors in Nepal, hurricane survivors in the British Virgin Islands and many more incredible communities impacted by disaster around the world.  She has managed the implementation of several field Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) activities, including a research study on the long-term effects of a women’s economic empowerment program in Ethiopia, along with leading a socio-economic feasibility study in Liberia funded by the World Bank, IDA.

As a first-generation college graduate to a family of asylum seekers from Sri Lanka, Roshani is passionate about educational equity and serving the immediate needs of refugees and asylum seekers.

Roshani has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and a Master of Public Affairs with a specialization in non-profit management and organizational change.

Edessa has been the perfect fit for her as the work perfectly aligns with her passion for international development and humanitarian aid.  In her words, “It has been extremely lovely to have the flexibility to help organizations thrive and continue being a full time mother.”  Roshani lives in Des Moines, Iowa with her husband and baby boy, Charlie, who was born December 2020. They love to travel, take long walks, and cook.
